Choosing our next book...

I know we haven't finished the first book yet, but I think we should start talking about how we want to choose the next book, especially since some of us, especially Eden, may need some time to order the book from a store or library. I talked to Sarah yesterday and her suggestion was to come up with an order and then each person in turn would choose the next book. Do people like this idea? Does anyone else have an idea to share?

Sounds good to me. Although, I'm kind of disappointed that you beat me to it. I had also been thinking that we should come up with a plan for the next book. But I was going to wait until after we finished chapters 3&4 to post anything. Oh well. You win...

So, I like this rotation basis, I think this book is kind of our intro. book, so not sure as it should count for whoever selected it. I think we should go alpha order. So, let's see, that means

Carson
Chris
Emily
Katie
Sarah

or

Chris
Eden
Emily
Katie
Sarah

What do ya'll think? (I like option 1 because I don't want to pick next) Or if some of us want to pick more than others, we could just speak up and make a selection as needed. Whatever works with me.

--Chris-- (hey look I actually remember to sign my comment this time...good job me)

If this is what people want to do then basically it looks like Chris and Eden/Carson will have to duke it out for the exact order. I'm totally fine with this, though I want to hear that everyone else is too before we decide. We should also come up with a ruling on how far in advance the next person needs to pick a book and notify the others.

Either of those seems fine with me (I'm amused that you went with alphabetizing first names and tried with both of Newman's options).

I would recommend that the new book should be announced during the second week in Feb. for this go around. Basically a week or two before the current one ends, unless you know that you'll have a hard to find book in which case earlier (or as soon as you've decided).

And the person who chooses the book should set the 'schedule'. It looks like we're having readings about every week, which seems fine to me.

Hey,

I think this is a good idea, then we all get a chance to pick what we want. I don't care who goes first, Eden or Chris, so you two can duke it out.

I actually started with either alphabetizing last names or first names, and then I realized that I hadn't confirmed with people if they are comfortable with full names showing up on the blog. (I personally don't mind, but didn't want to make that assumption about anyone else.)

I am running on less than an hours sleep due to ryanair being awful. we have been stuck in milan since yesterday and will finally get out tonight to frankfurt.

i could have a book in mind, if you really do not want to, chris.

i am up for more lord peter wimsey by dorothy l. sayers (friend of lewis and tolkien, though not an inkling) they are detective stories and absolutely wonderful and i would love to hear your thoughts about them. nine tailors, i think is one. i will find out what the first one is and that is what we can read. but only if it is up to me.

i need sleep and a hot shower.

It is definitely up to you, and sounds like an excellent choice. Just let us know the name for sure and give us a schedule when you get a chance.

Ryan Air? Where were you that you got stuck in Milan?
